Why is ‘pink moon’ called
According to Discover Magazine, Pink Moon was given its name to bloom creeping Flox (also known as Moss Pink). Moss Pink is a flowering plant that blooms in most parts of eastern and central America from April to early May. Therefore, it is also related to the moon. Like other months of full moon, this original American naming traditions are included. Apart from this, it is also known by many other names, including ‘Breaking Ice Moon’, ‘Egg Moon’ etc.

If seen for Hindus in India, it matches the full moon Hanuman Jayanti, which is a celebration of the birth of Lord Hanuman. Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in most areas on the full moon day of Chaitra month of Hindu Chandra.
Coincidence with Baisakhi 2025
It also has importance with Baisakhi. Baisakhi is also known as Vaisakhi. It is an important festival celebrated in Punjab and Northern India which is associated with harvesting of crops. It comes just after the pink moon. It is a symbol of the Sikh New Year and reminds of the formation of Khalsa in 1699. The Baisakhi celebrated on 13 or 14 April is a symbol of a new beginning and spiritual renovation.
