India-Pak Ceasefire: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also underlined that the two countries have “worked out an understanding.

After four days of hostilities that alarmed the world, India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire, stopping all military action as of 5 pm.

India Pakistan Ceasefire

India confirmed the ceasefire shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced it on his Truth Social platform.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both countries for demonstrating Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump posted.

In a brief statement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “The Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan have agreed that both sides will cease all firing and military operations on land, in the air, and at sea from 5 p.m.”

He stated, “Both sides have been instructed to implement this understanding. The Director General of Military Operations will hold another conversation on May 12th at 1200 hours.”

India stated that the call was initiated by the Pakistan DGMO this afternoon, leading to discussions that resulted in a mutual understanding.
Sources firmly clarified, “There is no agreement to hold talks on any other matter or at any other venue.”
Just prior to the breakthrough, India had issued a stern warning that “any act of terror will be treated as an act of war.”
India’s remarks following the ceasefire announcement echoed this warning.

Full and Immediate Ceasefire

In his post on X, Pakistan’s foreign minister Ishaq Dar wrote, “Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity!”

Declaring the ceasefire on his Truth Social platform, US President Donald Trump said, “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both countries.” He added that by doing so, both countries have shown “common sense and great intelligence.
